City farming Yolanda, 29/12/201929/12/2019 Alot is being discussed about the future in farming, how will we manage for it to be sustainable, what crops we are currently farming intensively will survive and adapt to climate change, how can cattle and agriculture not compete to demand more and more land…This is an insight to some projects and proposals to make cities, and other non conventional territories part of the equation. Not a bad idea given most of the demand for food comes from megacities and highly popoulated areas around them. Growing localy achieves not having to make food travel, therefore a more sustainable and independent city society. This is why we are seeing an effort to grow food in desert cities like in Vegas, undeground and in rivers and sea docks that are part of cities in freight farms , or even under the sea in S’Olcese town in Genova on Italy’s coast in Nemo’s Garden project.
